Unity in the Body of Christ #2

SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR JUNE 14-20, 2020
MEDITATION: UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST!
“Until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. 14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.” EPHESIANS 4:13-16 (NASB).

DAILY FOCUS

SUNDAY 14
THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS DISPLEASED WITH DIVISIONS AMONGST HIS BELIEVERS!
“But I urge you, believers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in
full agreement in what you say, and that there be no divisions or factions among you,
but that you be perfectly united in your way of thinking and in your judgment [about
matters of the faith]. 11 For I have been informed about you, my brothers and sisters,
by those of Chloe’s household, that there are quarrels and factions among you.
12 Now I mean this, that each one of you says, “I am [a disciple] of Paul,” or “I am [a
disciple] of Apollos,” or “I am [a disciple] of Cephas (Peter),” or “I am [a disciple] of
Christ.” 13 Has Christ been divided [into different parts]? Was Paul crucified for you?
Or were you baptized into the name of Paul? [Certainly not!]”
1 Corinthians 1 10-13 (AMP)

MONDAY 15
IT IS GOOD AND PLEASANT WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE DWELL TOGETHER IN UNITY
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2
It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even
Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; 3 As the dew of Hermon,
and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD
commanded the blessing, even life
Psalm 133 1-3 (KJV)

TUESDAY 16
BE OF THE SAME MIND, MAINTAIN THE SAME LOVE AND BE UNITED IN SPIRIT
“Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love,
if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2 make my joy
complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit,
intent on one purpose. 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with
humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not
merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.”
Philippians 2 1-4 (ESV)

WEDNESDAY 17
GOD IS PLEASED WHEN HIS CHILDREN ARE OF ONE HEART AND SOUL!
“And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was
shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word
of God with boldness. 32 Now the full number of those who believed were of one
heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his
own, but they had everything in common. 33 And with great power the apostles were
giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon
them all.” Pray frequently throughout the day for each other—pray that we all live a
harmonious life—pleasing our heavenly father. Also pray for the current events of the
world and for lost souls.
Acts 4 31-33 (ESV)

THURSDAY 18
AS FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST, IT’S IMPORTANT TO LIVE IN ONE ACCORD!
“May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete
harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. 6 Then all of you
can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ. 7 therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God
will be given glory.”
Romans 15 5-7 (NLT)

FRIDAY 19
LOVE IS THE PERFECT BOND OF UNITY
“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a
heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with
one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just
as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. 14 beyond all these things put on love,
which is the perfect bond of unity.”
Colossians 3 12-14 (NASB)

SATURDAY 20
DILIGENTLY PRESERVE THE UNITY OF THE SPIRIT IN THE BOND OF PEACE! “Therefore
I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with
which you have been called, 2with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing
tolerance for one another in love, 3 being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in
the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in
one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of
all who is over all and through all and in all.”
Ephesians 4 1-6 (NLT)

WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT: 1 CORINTHIANS 12:26 (NLT) says: “If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.”
